The town on top of the mountain is called
Ooty. On the way it was fun to see some of the same vegetation that we have in California.
Lots of color to catch the eye. I pulled out the camera to snap some interesting bamboo and I only saw a couple of clusters and then we were quickly higher and I missed the shot. It wasn't growing at that elevation. We climbed fast and to about 8,500 feet.

And then at the top, people again. Remember that old song (you do have to be old) about tract houses? They used the term
ticky tacky?
An interesting note. We had never heard of
Ooty before our journey. Two weeks later out meeting people we learned from a new
acquaintance that Bill Gates has a project going up there on the mountain. That man does get around. You just think that you are on the other side of the world from the familiar.
